EL PASO – The Battle of I-10 lived up to the billing as the New Mexico State volleyball team dropped a five set (25-20, 30-32, 26-24, 22-25, 12-15) heartbreaker to UTEP at Memorial Gym in El Paso on Sunday afternoon to wrap up the Springhill Suites Invitational.
"I think we showed real grit today, we were short-handed and had to go small on the pins and put Shaney [Lipscomb] in the middle, which we haven't practices," said head coach Mike Jordan. "I felt we played well in stretches and were competitive and I'm proud of that.
