DENVER – New Mexico State men's tennis junior Christofer Goncalves earned this week's Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week after going undefeated last weekend and led NM State to a third-place finish at the HEB Invitational.
Goncalves first gave NM State the 4-0 sweep of host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, clinching the doubles point and match point for the Aggies – both at the No. 1 spot. In New Mexico State's loss to Arizona, the Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native was one point away from beating the Wildcats' Shoti Meparidze but left his match unfinished leading 6-3, 5-4.
