PROVO, Utah – New Mexico State men's tennis senior Christofer Goncalves saw his run at the ITA Mountain Regional come to an end Friday afternoon at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts in the semifinals of singles play.
Goncalves had a great start to single play, sending New Mexico's Dominic West home with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory in the quarterfinal round – which set him up with a match against BYU's Sean Hill later that afternoon.
A gritty back-and-forth first set saw the Barquisimeto, Venezuela, fall 7-6 (8-6) in the semifinal match. However, Goncalves roared back in the second set with a decisive 6-1 win and forced a third set.
