It wasn’t enough that the University of New Mexico women’s cross-country team ran past all competitors on the way to the 2015 national title. The Lobo women outperformed them all in the classroom as well.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named the Lobos its Schollar Team of the Year. Team members posted a 3.65 GPA last fall.
“To be NCAA champions and scholar team in the same year caps off an historical cross country year,” said UNM coach Joe Franklin.
UNM also was named an All-Academic men’s team (3.56), as were the New Mexico State men (3.
