LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State baseball team dropped an exciting 3-1 game Friday night at Presley Askew Field in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,331 that included kids from the Las Cruces Youth Baseball Association.

The Aggies (6-5) struck first in the bottom of the third when Brent Sakurai led off with a triple to deep right field and scored on the following play when Tristen Carranza grounded on a hard chopper to the second baseman.

However, the visiting Bulldogs (1-0) answered right back in the next half inning when their designated hitter Griffin Dey lifted a 1-1 pitch from Johnathan Groff well over the centerfield wall.
