LAS CRUCES, N.M. — NM State held Arizona scoreless through the first half but couldn't keep the Wildcats off the board late, falling 2-0 on Thursday night at the Soccer Athletic Complex.
The Aggies (1-2-0) matched Arizona's physicality in front of a season-high crowd of 783 and created early chances, including a shot on target from in the 11th minute. Goalkeeper anchored the defense with three saves, keeping the match even at the break.
Arizona finally broke through in the 50th minute and doubled its lead in the 75th. NM State continued to press, recording four shots and two on goal, including efforts from Scott and , but couldn't find the equalizer.
