Aggies Stumble in Season Opener at #23 Washington State

PULLMAN, WASH. – The New Mexico State football team (0-1) opened the 2019 season with a 58-7 loss on the road and under the lights against No. 23 Washington State (1-0).

Washington State's offense, helmed by redshirt senior quarterback Anthony Gordon, threw for 507 yards and six touchdowns, picking apart NM State's secondary. Sophomore tailback Max Borghi led the charge on the ground, rushing for 128 yards and a score.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Josh Adkins recorded the Aggies' first offensive touchdown of the year midway through the first quarter. Adkins recovered a fumbled football around the goal line and plunged three yards into the end zone, capping off a seven-play, 75-yard Aggie scoring drive.
