LAS CRUCES — Western Athletic Conference play begins this week, and New Mexico State is excited about the clean slate and the opportunity to defend its WAC regular-season title.
The Aggies (8-7) begin WAC play Thursday at Utah Valley, then face Grand Canyon in Phoenix on Saturday.
“All the nonconference is in the past now,” NMSU junior guard Ian Baker said. “Unless we play Wichita State down the road. But, other than that, it’s conference time. Everyone is 0-0 and that’s our focus.”
NMSU does have at least one nonconference game left in the regular season against Northern New Mexico on Feb.
