LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The top-seeded New Mexico State women’s basketball team dominated early, slogged through a sloppy fourth quarter, but handled No. 4 seed Utah Valley 58-44 on Friday in a Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinal at the Orleans Arena.
Moriah Mack scored 14 points to lead the 25-4 Aggies, who play for the tournament title and a second consecutive NCAA bid today at 2 p.m. against UT-Rio Grande Valley, which beat CSU Bakersfield 73-72 in double overtime.
The Aggies should have extra motivation when the two teams square off, as if the league’s lone berth to the upcoming NCAA Touranemnt would not be enough.
