LUBBOCK, Texas – The New Mexico State track and field team completed the first day of competition at the Fearless Champion Open on Friday. The Aggie throws group posted a strong showing in the javelin and the hammer throw at Fuller Track and Field.
Taniya Mitchell took home second in the hammer throw when she posted a march of 54.03m (177-3) in the event. Emily Hernandez (49.69m; 163-0) and Yemisi Oroyinyin (49.27m; 161-7) claimed fifth and sixth place, respectively. The throw by Hernandez was also a new personal best. Bristol O'Connor placed eighth when she threw 47.
