LAS CRUCES, N.M. - A historic stretch of days for the New Mexico State baseball program continues.
Infielders Nick Gonzales and Tristan Peterson were named Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday, becoming the fourth and fifth student-athletes in Aggie history to claim the honor.
Rex Gates (1970, 1971), Chris Fanning (1990) and David Licini (2002) are the only other Aggie student-athlete to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Gonzales, selected seventh overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates last night in the MLB Draft, was named to the second team.
