ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It wasn’t the best college basketball, but it was college basketball at its best.
And the New Mexico Lobos, in staring down the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels on Tuesday at the Pit, gave their fans reason to believe the best is yet to come.

So often in the past, I and others of the ink-stained wretch persuasion have written in describing a basketball game, “It wasn’t pretty.” You know what? This one kind of was.
The Lobos beat UNLV, 87-83, in a game that was tied 14 times and had 16 lead changes.
