Poor shooting and second half woes haunted the Lobos again as they lost their second straight game in the Thanksgiving Tournament at WisePies Arena to Saint Joseph's, 79-67.
New Mexico (2-3) — losing its third straight game overall — got off to a hot start in the first quarter thanks to junior guard Cherise Beynon and Richelle van der Keijl. Beynon put up seven points in the quarter, while van der Keijl scored six, giving the Lobos a comfortable lead of 21-6 entering the second quarter.
The Lobos held St. Joseph's (2-4) to 1-for-16 shooting in the first quarter, while the Lobos shot 9-for-16.
