ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Toss the gear in the van and let’s hit the beach.
That’s not as easy as it sounds for the University of New Mexico beach volleyball team, which has already logged more than 4,000 highway miles this season and has plenty more to come.
The Lobos hit the road again this week for three matches in Fort Worth, roughly 1,250 miles away from Albuquerque. That’s a 10-hour ride each way for a team that’s already made four lengthy road excursions to Arizona and California, but Lobos coach/designated driver Jeff Nelson and his players are not complaining.
