Updated: UNM football: running back commits

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Daevon Vigilant, a highly recruited running back from Downey (Calif.) High School, announced on Twitter Saturday that he has committed to the University of New Mexico.
Vigilant, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, likely is the most heavily recruited player to commit to UNM during the four-year tenure of coach Bob Davie. According to ESPN.com, Vigilant had at least 11 offers. Among the schools offering him a scholarship were Michigan, Utah and three of UNM’s Mountain West Conference rivals: San Diego State, Wyoming and Nevada.
He had committed to Utah last summer but then re-opened his recruitment.
