ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — One year ago Tuesday, on Selection Sunday 2015, the Mountain West was fuming.
The Colorado State Rams, and their seemingly powerful No. 29 RPI ranking, were one of the final schools left on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament field. That left the league with only three teams in the field of 68 instead of the anticipated four.
It got worse.
One year later, the MWC’s lone representative, Fresno State, touched down in Denver on Tuesday afternoon where the 14th-seeded Bulldogs play No. 3 Utah on Thursday.
The image of the league, which in 2013 sent five out of a possible nine teams to the NCAA Tournament, has taken a hit.
