Tim Cass, chief operating officer of University of New Mexico athletics, is being courted by the United States Tennis Association, the Journal has learned.
Cass did not return messages from the Journal late Wednesday, but UNM athletic director Paul Krebs said via text message, “Any comment needs to come from Tim. I can confirm (Cass) has had discussions with the organization.”
Cass is the No. 2 man, behind Krebs, in the UNM athletic department. He oversaw the 18-month, $60 million renovation of the Pit earlier this decade.
In 2014, UNM and Cass agreed to a pay increase raising his annual salary to $181,000.
