MINNEAPOLIS – The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team gave the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-1-2) everything they could handle in Friday night’s match before falling 1-0. After giving up an early goal to the home team in the first half, UNM (2-4-0) had the better of the match throughout the second half. The Lobos created chances, including a shot off the post in the final minutes but couldn’t equalize.
The Lobos conceded an unassisted goal to Minnesota’s Maddie Gaffney 11 minutes into the match. New Mexico went into halftime down a goal despite keeping things close throughout the stat sheet.
