The inaugural NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl will be played in Tucson on Dec. 29, giving the Mountain West Conference another possible spot in the college football postseason.
The Arizona Bowl will match teams from the Mountain West, Conference USA and/or the Sun Belt Conference.
The University of New Mexico is a member of the Mountain West. The Lobos are 2-2 so far this season, 1-0 in conference play. The threshold for bowl eligibility is six regular-season victories.
The Arizona Bowl was certified by the NCAA this spring, but didn’t become a certainty for this season until it secured a title sponsor.
