Win three games in Las Vegas, Nev., in March and punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Short of that scenario playing out at the Mountain West Conference tournament, however, neither the University of New Mexico men’s or women’s basketball teams will be playing in the Big Dance next month. Both kissed goodbye their chances of earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament long ago with less-than-stellar non-conference showings and up-and-down league performances.
But that doesn’t mean either team will be done with basketball after the conference tournament is over.
