UNM baseball gets approval to build clubhouse

University of New Mexico regents voted Friday to build a $2.3 million baseball clubhouse.

The facility will be named for R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard, who have donated $500,000 toward the project. About half of the cost will be covered by donations, UNM athletic director Paul Krebs said. The other half will be loaned to the school by the UNM Foundation, said Tom Neale, the school’s director of real estate.

UNM’s current baseball locker room has been in the Pit, but the team has had to vacate for days at a time when the Pit has been host to bull riding or state high school basketball tournaments.
