It has been a long, difficult indoor track season for Allan Hamilton.
Friday, it got a little easier – and, he hopes, a little longer.
Hamilton, a University of New Mexico senior from Edinburgh, Scotland, won the long jump Friday at the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships with a leap of 25 feet, 3½ inches.
It was the best mark of Hamilton’s injury-plagued indoor season. Was it good enough to get him to NCAA nationals in Birmingham, Ala., two weeks from now?
In individual events, the top 16 times, heights and/or distances in each event qualify for nationals.
