Las Vegas, Nev. --- Tim Williams, a junior transfer from Samford University, has been tabbed as the Mountain West Preseason Newcomer of the Year. That announcement was made in Las Vegas at the start of the Mountain West Basketball Media Days, held at the Renaissance Hotel today and tomorrow.
Williams was one of seven players to earn a preseason honor from a vote of the league's media. Along with Williams, UNLV's Stephen Zimmerman was tabbed Preseason Freshman of the Year and Fresno State's Marvelle Harris was named Preseason Player of the Year. Harris was also one of five named to the preseason all-conference team, along with a pair of Boise State Broncos in Anthony Drmic and James Webb III, Wyoming's Josh Adams and San Diego State's Winston Shepard.
