ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Monday was not warm and fuzzy for the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team.
The Lobos were coming off a 71-57 victory over San Jose State but you wouldn’t have known it by the tone of practice at the Davalos Center. Saturday’s home win had too many potholes to suit to suit UNM coach Yvonne Sanchez, and players heard about them during a particularly rigorous workout.
Unforced turnovers, fouls and some tentative play on offense made the win over San Jose State harder than necessary. The Lobos (10-7, 3-3 Mountain West) will try for a smoother performance Wednesday night at Air Force (0-18, 0-7).
