The New Mexico football team took the soggy Branch Field turf on Saturday for their first live game of the season with one thing in mind – let LoboNation and everyone else know they are for real in 2015. And the Lobos did just that, routing their FCS opponent Mississippi Valley State 66-0 before 21,903 at University Stadium.
"We really just wanted to go out there and make a statement,” said linebacker Kimmie Carson. “So I think holding them to zero points made a statement no matter the team. We did what we wanted to do."
The Lobos were impressive against their overmatched opponents, tying a school and Mountain West record scoring eight rushing touchdowns in a game.
