Prep RB star says the Lobos are the right fit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It snowed in Albuquerque the mid-December weekend when Daevon Vigilant made his recruiting visit to the University of New Mexico.

For a Southern California kid, that could have been a deal-breaker.

Fortunately for the Lobos, it wasn’t. Vigilant, a Downey (Calif.) High School running back pursued by Michigan and several other so-called power-5 conference schools, announced his commitment to the Lobos on Jan. 2.

Vigilant is the most heavily recruited player to have committed to UNM thus far, with Wednesday’s signing day looming. According to multiple online sources, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound speedster had offers from Michigan, Utah, Washington State and Colorado.
