No. 22 Lobos put 12-0 record on the line vs. Colorado State in Mountain West opener

Who knew it would be the coach messing with the chemistry of the feel-good story of Lobo basketball.

But here Richard Pitino is, daily in film sessions and practices reminding his players just how highly he regards Isaiah Stevens, the Colorado State point guard who will lead the Rams into the Pit for Wednesday night’s Mountain West Conference opener.

More than 13,000 fans are expected as UNM plays as a ranked team — No. 22 to be exact — for the first time since 2014.

“Our guys get mad at me because I gush over him all the time,” Pitino said Tuesday when asked if CSU’s preseason All-Conference selection looks to be fully recovered from a foot injury that cost him the first six games of the season.
