New Mexico passed its first test in the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The sixth-seeded Lobos (22-10) beat No. 11 Wyoming (9-22) 87-76 in the first round of the tourney.
UNM’s Jaelen House had 28 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 1 turnover in the win. Hunter Maldonado had 36 points for the Cowobys.
The Lobos will play No. 3 Utah State on Thursday in quarterfinals. Tip-off is 9:30 p.m. Mountain
