ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Tim Williams scored 12 straight points down the stretch and New Mexico beat UNLV 87-83 on Tuesday night.
Williams, who finished with 29 points, began his streak with the game tied at 70 with 6:41 to play and his muscle-in basket with just under a minute left put New Mexico (14-8, 7-2 Mountain West) ahead to stay.
Elijah Brown added 26 points for the Lobos, including hitting all 12 of his free throws.
Stephen Zimmerman Jr. scored a career-high 21 for UNLV (13-10, 4-6), but after making two buckets in the first minute of the second half, didn't score again until the final minute.
