New Mexico State's Paul Weir has agreed to a six-year deal to become the head coach at New Mexico, sources told ESPN.
Weir, 37, led New Mexico State to a 28-6 record and an NCAA tournament appearance in his lone season at the helm. He had spent the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach under Marvin Menzies with the Aggies.
Weir, a native of Canada, was also an assistant coach at Iowa and Northwestern State.
New Mexico is replacing Craig Neal, who was fired on April 1 after four seasons as the head coach.
