ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lobo basketball fans came to love and respect Larry Nance Jr. in his years donning the Wyoming Cowboys jersey.
But when he left school after last season and became a first-round draft pick of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, Laramie didn’t exactly lose all of its star power. In fact, what explosive senior guard Josh Adams is doing this season on a roster full of mostly inexperienced teammates is arguably one of the more impressive individual performances the league has seen in some time.
“I don’t know if there’s a more explosive athlete, for his size, that we’ve played against,” UNM head coach Craig Neal said on Thursday, referring not only to this season, but to the nine seasons he has been coaching at New Mexico.
