Exhibition games tend not to be the prettiest games on earth, but it’s hard to ignore a 96-point effort.
The New Mexico offense exploded to nearly 100 points in its first exhibition game Tuesday evening, outgunning Colorado State-Pueblo to a 96-84 victory at WisePies Arena. The Lobos averaged 54 percent shooting from the field, including nearly 60 percent in the first half.
Guard Cullen Neal, making his return to game action from a season-long injury, dropped 33 points on 10 of 17 shooting. He also made four 3-pointers.
Head coach Craig Neal said the team missed some easy shots inside that he believes players will normally make, but the exhibition showing proved what he’s been saying about the scoring potential.
