Lobos want to show they have improved

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — So what has changed since Jan. 12?

That was when the UNM Lobos, then sitting pretty at 3-0 in the Mountain West, went to Las Vegas, Nev., to play an 0-3 UNLV team that had just fired its coach.

The Rebels played with an energy they had been lacking, took the Lobos out of any semblance of a controlled offense and won by 12. That started for them a three game winning streak and sent the Lobos into a two-game skid that included a home loss to Wyoming.

But three weeks later, as UNLV (13-9, 4-5 MWC) visits the Pit to play the Lobos (13-8, 6-2), the scripts seem to have returned to form.
