ALBUQUERUQE N.M. — A somber tone follows the first day of play at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, where the Lobos finished at +19 and T14 with Washington State. The Lobos were hindered by a tough start, and were never quite able to gain the momentum necessary to make any real move up the leaderboard.
Joseph Abella leads the Lobos after shooting a 2-over 74 placing him in a tie for 30th overall; he displayed the cleanest card on the UNM squad with three bogeys and a lone birdie. Andrej Bevins provided the most excitement, but also had a few serious mistakes.
