ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Do they have one last run left in them?
UNM coach Craig Neal, despite his team’s four-game losing streak that included Tuesday’s 27-point home loss to San Diego State, certainly thinks so.
“I think our guys are excited,” the Lobos coach said at a very upbeat Thursday news conference. “I think they see a clean slate after this week.”
The Lobos (16-14, 9-8 Mountain West) play their regular-season finale at Nevada on Saturday and then play in the league tournament next week in Las Vegas, Nev., Despite the late-season struggles and criticism that surrounds the program in Albuquerque, a three-game run, no matter how improbable, would still land the team in the NCAA Tournament.
