ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- It might be a break from the rigors of Mountain West play ... but it sure isn't a break. The University of New Mexico steps out of conference for a weekend series against No. 27 Arizona State (23-15), with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and a chance to showcase itself against a Pac-12 team on the road and get a few more wins against a nationally ranked team.
It's an interesting weekend with the Lobos (30-13) having a chance to face a big opponent that could certainly bolster UNM's at-large chances (UNM's RPI is currently 55 while Arizona State sits at 89) while going with it's front line pitching.
