A decades-old rivalry will be renewed on Tuesday night between the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University baseball teams as the first edition of the 2019 Rio Grande Rivalry will play out on the diamond in Las Cruces.
Last season, the two teams met twice with the Aggies claiming both games. The first was a 9-1 win in Albuquerque while the second game was a tight 4-3 win in Las Cruces. This year's matchup has all the makings for an offensive slugfest as the two teams combine for 461 runs scored, 105 doubles, 28 triples and 62 home runs.
