ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The curiosity level continues to rise.
Members of the University of New Mexico women’s basketball team are normally in mental-break mode this time of year, decompressing from a long season and not thinking too much about the next one.
Things are different this year. UNM fired fifth-year coach Yvonne Sanchez on March 18 and has since been conducting a national search for her replacement.
Instead of enjoying their mental break, returning players have been on pins and needles wondering who their head coach will be in 2016-17.
“We’re all really anxious to find out,” sophomore Cherise Beynon said.
