ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico softball team and head coach Erica Beach announced the signing of Lauren Wilmert for the 2016-17 season.
“Lauren Wilmert is one of the best ballplayers in her class in all of New Mexico,” said Beach. “Not only is she strong behind the plate but she is a great hitter that will provide power to our lineup. We are so happy Lauren will be playing for her hometown team.”
Wilmert, a catcher, commits to UNM from Volcano Vista High School here in Albuquerque. She is familiar with UNM softball due to playing on the softball field for the state tournament.
