Lobo pitching racks up 17 Ks in 6-4 win over Nevada

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Right-handers and combined for a dominant pitching performance on the mound for the University of New Mexico on Friday night against Nevada. The duo combined to strikeout 17 opposing batters and helped lift UNM to a 6-4 win in the series opener.

The 17 combined strikeouts for the Lobos (16-17, 7-9 MW) on Friday night were the most in a game since they punched out 17 batters in a 10-inning game against Air Force last March. A lion's share of the strikeout total was produced by Gillespie as he had a career-best 12 strikeouts in the start.
