Lubbock, TX. --- The University of New Mexico men's tennis team opened their season on Friday afternoon with an impressive sweep of the Vaqueros of University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley, 7-0.
In single's play, No. 4 single's Stepan Holis defeated UTRGV's Mateo Schmit with an impressive score of 6-1, 6-1, followed by a Lobo victory by Bart Van Leijsen against Yehonatan Kaufman for the No. 2 single's point, with a final score of 6-4, 6-4. In the No. 4 single's flight, UNM's Tim Buttner also defeated UTRGV's Elliot Johnstone in two, with a final score or 6-4, 6-4.
