Among the holes the Lobos must fill for next fall are the kicker and punter slots vacated by Zack Rogers, who handled both duties in 2015.
During Saturday’s Spring Showcase scrimmage at University Stadium, punter Sam Gentry and kicker Jason Sanders staged encouraging performances.
Sanders, a junior from Orange, Calif., was 5-of-5 on field goal attempts. Gentry, a fifth-year senior walk-on from Eldorado, launched punts of 48, 60 and 48 yards.
“We’ve got two strong legs in Jason Sanders and Sam Gentry,” coach Bob Davie said.
