ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Shortly before tipoff Wednesday, the Lobos had to deal with one more loss.
Backup center Nikola Scekic, the 7-foot-1, 255-pound freshman center from Belgrade, Serbia, announced on Twitter that he has decided to leave the UNM program.
“I want to go somewhere where I can play more minutes to get better,” he told the Journal before the game, where he was sitting in the stands of the Pit and not with the team for warmups. “You’ve seen. Here I play sometimes, not every game. Sometimes one minute. Sometimes 2. I want to get better.
