ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Jon Newman-Gonchar, who has served as the associate head coach at the University of Arkansas for the past three seasons, has been named the 10th head volleyball coach at The University of New Mexico. The hire was announced by Eddie Nuñez, Director of Athletics.
Bringing with him a plethora of collegiate and national team experience, Newman-Gonchar replaces Jeff Nelson, who helmed the Lobos for the past 12 years. Newman-Gonchar has served under renowned volleyball coaches such as Arkansas's Jason Watson, Iowa State's Christy Johnson-Lynch and former Loyola Marymount coach, USA Women's National Team assistant and current Georgia head coach Tom Black.
