MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The University of New Mexico women's soccer team gave the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-1-2) everything they could handle in Friday night's match but came up one goal short. After giving up an early goal to the home team in the first half, UNM (2-4-0) had the better of the match throughout the second half. The Lobos created chances, including a shot off the post in the final minutes but couldn't quite equalize.
The Lobos fell into an early hole when they conceded an unassisted goal to Minnesota's Maddie Gaffney eleven minutes into the match.
