BATON ROUGE, La. — Due to inclement weather, the final day of the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge has been cancelled for the 16th-ranked University of New Mexico beach volleyball team.
Consequently, the Lobos will not play Houston Baptist or TCU on Sunday at Mango's Beach Volleyball Courts and will officially finish their second season in the sand with a 17-9 record. New Mexico beat New Orleans 5-0 in its de facto season finale on Saturday.
With the inaugural NCAA National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championships scheduled to start Thursday, May 5, and the end of the regular season scheduled for Sunday, the cancelled matches will not be made up at a later date.
