Cullen Neal has head injury, status for San Jose State game unknown

UNM sophomore guard Cullen Neal has been held out of practice so far this week since suffering a head injury in the closing seconds of Saturday’s loss to Wyoming.

The Journal has learned the team is uncertain whether Neal, who is being monitored daily by team trainers all week for concussion symptoms, will be allowed to play in Saturday’s Mountain West Conference road game at San Jose State (3 p.m., CampusInsiders.com, 770 AM).

The Journal has not confirmed whether Neal has actually been diagnosed with a concussion and, if so, how long that would require the team to keep him out of contact drills.
