College football: Lobos shut out in 1st-team balloting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Lobos’ strong finish to the 2015 football season is reflected only dimly in the Mountain West All-Conference selections, released Tuesday.

Senior Carlos Wiggins made the All-MWC second team as a kick and punt returner. Senior offensive lineman Eden Mahina, junior linebacker Dakota Cox and junior defensive end Nik D’Avanzo received honorable mention.

New Mexico had no selections on the first team.

The Lobos finished the season with a 7-5 record and were 5-3 in the Mountain West, having won three of their last four games – upsetting regional power Boise State and Mountain Division champion Air Force in the process.
