ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- On Saturday night, The University of New Mexico picked up a key Mountain West football victory over Air Force 56-38 in an odd game that featured a delay during warm-ups for lightning, a 61-minute delay in between the first and second quarters for lightning, and then a five minute halftime. Through all that UNM piled up 509 yards of offense and Richard McQuarley scored five touchdowns to tie a UNM record.
At the beginning of the five-minute halftime, unbeknownst to any of the players and coaches on either team, the national anthem was played.
