The San Diego State Aztecs, who have shared or won outright four of the last five Mountain West men’s basketball titles, have been selected in the league’s preseason media poll to win it again for the 2015-16 season, which starts in less than a month.
The UNM Lobos, entering their third season under the guidance of head coach Craig Neal, were voted sixth in the preseason media voting and junior forward Tim Williams, who practiced with the team last season but did not play after transferring from Samford, was voted the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
The Mountain West’s coaches do not produce a preseason poll.
